Terms of service

Stackness is a platform where developers share, discover, and discuss the tools, stacks, and workflows they use to build software. The core service is free; optional paid supporter and team subscriptions add extra features.

• You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
• Registration details must be accurate, and your account is personal: keep your credentials secret and do not share or sell access.
• You are responsible for activity that happens through your account. Tell us immediately at legal@stackness.dev if you suspect unauthorised use.
• One person may not register multiple accounts to evade enforcement action.

You keep full ownership of everything you post - stacks, moves, comments, images, and any other content. By posting, you grant Stackness a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute that content on the platform for the purpose of operating and promoting the service. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies already shared with or embedded by other users and short-lived backups.

For content you publish publicly, that licence covers public display: Stackness may serve it to visitors who are not signed in, and may let search engines and other third-party services crawl, index, cache, and show it in their results and previews. That is how a public platform works, and it is not something we can undo on your behalf once a third party holds a copy. The Privacy policy explains which content is public by default and which setting makes your profile visible only to signed-in users.

You are responsible for the content you post and must hold the rights needed to post it.

You must not:

• post content that is illegal, infringes intellectual property, or violates the Community guidelines (harassment, hate speech, malware, spam, and more are covered there),
• attempt to breach, probe, or overload the service, scrape it in violation of published limits, or interfere with other users' access,
• impersonate another person or misrepresent an affiliation, or
• use the service to send unsolicited advertising or run schemes unrelated to its purpose.

Any user can report content or accounts using the report action available on stacks, moves, comments, and profiles. Reports are reviewed by moderation; automated filtering may also flag content. Depending on severity we may remove content, warn you, restrict features, or suspend or terminate your account. Where reasonable we will tell you what rule was broken. You can contest an enforcement decision by writing to legal@stackness.dev.

• Price and billing period: the supporter price and its billing interval are shown on the home page and in your billing settings, and confirmed again at checkout before you pay. Payment is processed by Stripe.
• Auto-renewal: subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled.
• Cancellation: you can cancel at any time from the billing section in settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep paid features until then.
• Refunds: apart from the withdrawal right below and cases required by law, fees for a started billing period are not refunded.
• Price changes: we will announce price changes in advance; they apply from your next renewal, and you can cancel before they take effect.

If you are a consumer in the EU or Switzerland, you have the right to withdraw from a subscription purchase within 14 days without giving a reason. Because a subscription is a digital service that starts immediately, at checkout you expressly request immediate performance and acknowledge that once the service has been fully provided your withdrawal right lapses. If you withdraw within the 14-day period while the subscription is running, we refund the amount paid minus a proportionate charge for the period already provided. To withdraw, send an unequivocal statement to legal@stackness.dev within the 14-day period.

The Stackness software, design, and branding remain the property of the operator. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the service; they do not transfer any rights in the platform itself. Third-party trademarks and tool logos shown on the site belong to their respective owners.

Sign-in via GitHub or Google, payments via Stripe, and links to external tool websites are provided by third parties under their own terms. We are not responsible for third-party services or content.

Stackness is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of uninterrupted availability or fitness for a particular purpose. Content posted by users is their own; opinions and tool recommendations are not professional advice.

To the extent permitted by law, the operator is liable only for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence. Liability for slight negligence, for indirect or consequential damage, and for loss of data or profit is excluded. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, and mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence remain unaffected.

You can stop using the service or request account deletion at any time (see the Privacy policy for the process). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms as described in section 5, and may discontinue the service with reasonable advance notice, refunding any prepaid fees for periods not provided.

We may update these terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be announced on the site in advance. If you continue using the service after a change takes effect, the updated terms apply; if you do not agree, cancel your subscription and stop using the service.

These terms are governed by Swiss law. The courts at the operator's domicile in Switzerland have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer in the EU or Switzerland, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions, or of competent courts, of your country of residence.
