About ASP.NET
ASP.NET Core is a framework for building web applications and services using the .NET platform and C#. Developers use it to create web apps, REST APIs, and real-time applications that run on Windows, Linux, and macOS. The framework includes Blazor, a web UI framework for building interactive applications with HTML, CSS, and C#. ASP.NET Core provides built-in security features to protect against common web vulnerabilities and supports standard authentication protocols including multi-factor authentication and external authentication providers.
Microsoft develops ASP.NET Core and distributes it under the Apache License. The framework is open source and free to use. It emphasizes performance and includes built-in tools for creating secure applications. Developers can deploy ASP.NET Core applications to various hosting environments, including Microsoft Azure, major cloud platforms, self-hosted servers, or third-party hosting providers.
