About BAML

BAML is a programming language designed for building AI agents. It provides features tailored to agent development, including built-in observability with function tracing, AI functions for calling language models, a type system designed to prevent invalid states, and workflow primitives for handling concurrency, retries, and cancellation. The language draws syntax from TypeScript while incorporating concepts from Rust and Go, and supports both standalone execution and integration into existing projects written in Python, TypeScript, Node, Java, C#, .NET, C++, Go, Rust, Kotlin, Android, Swift, iOS, and PHP.

BAML is developed by BoundaryML and is licensed under Apache 2.0. The language is implemented in Rust and emphasizes fast compilation, efficient tracing, and type safety without escape hatches. It can be used standalone on macOS, Linux, and Windows, or embedded within existing codebases to enable incremental adoption.
