About Bento

Bento is an office suite that packages document creation tools into single HTML files. Developers use it to create presentations, notes, and spreadsheets that combine the viewer, editor, and data in one portable file. The tool is designed around a local-first approach, meaning documents work offline and require no cloud account or installation. Each file is self-contained with embedded fonts and assets, allowing copies to open independently and look identical across devices. Bento includes AI capabilities for tasks like transforming presentations, though the tool functions without them.

The suite currently offers slides for presentations, with notes and spreadsheet features in development. Documents are stored as readable JSON inside the HTML file, providing transparency and preventing vendor lock-in. Bento is developed by nyblnet and released under the MIT license, written in TypeScript as an open-source project.
