About Bruno
Bruno is an open-source integrated development environment for exploring and testing APIs. It supports REST, GraphQL, gRPC, and WebSocket protocols. Collections are stored as plain-text files that work with Git, allowing teams to manage API requests alongside their code using familiar version control workflows. The tool runs locally on a developer's machine without requiring cloud synchronization, account creation, or login.
Bruno is developed by usebruno and distributed under the MIT License. It is designed as a developer-first alternative that prioritizes extensibility and integration with existing development workflows. The tool stores data locally and does not sync to the cloud, meaning user requests remain on their device. Bruno can be run in an IDE, terminal, or with agents, and supports enterprise features like single sign-on, secret manager integration, and inherited security policies from existing infrastructure.
