About Chef

Chef is a configuration management tool that helps developers and operations teams automate infrastructure management and DevOps workflows. It enables users to define infrastructure configurations in code, manage compliance across systems, and orchestrate operational tasks at scale across cloud and on-premises environments. The platform combines a user interface for simplified operations with policy-as-code capabilities for flexibility and control.

Chef supports various infrastructure management tasks including standardized configuration deployment, continuous compliance auditing, workflow orchestration, and job execution across different environments. It can operate in agentless mode and integrate with other DevOps tools. The tool is developed by Progress and is available as a SaaS offering, on-premises deployment, or managed cloud service. Pricing and licensing options are available on the vendor's website.
