About Colima
Colima is a tool that provides container runtimes on macOS and Linux with minimal setup. Developers use it to run Docker, Kubernetes, containerd, and Incus without extensive configuration. The tool offers Docker compatibility so users can apply existing Docker workflows unchanged, native containerd support with nerdctl for a Docker-like command interface, and built-in Kubernetes support through k3s for local cluster development. Colima also supports Incus for running system containers and virtual machines, includes GPU acceleration for AI workloads on Apple Silicon, and allows customization of CPU, memory, and disk resources across multiple isolated instances.
Colima is developed by abiosoft and released under the MIT license. The tool runs with sensible defaults designed to minimize system resource consumption while providing flexible configuration options for developers who need customized setups.
