About delta
Delta is a syntax-highlighting pager designed to improve the reading experience of output from git, diff, grep, and related command-line tools. It processes the output of these tools and displays it with color and formatting enhancements, making it easier to review and understand code changes. The tool supports extensive customization of layout and styling while remaining compatible with standard git and diff output. It can display diffs side-by-side, show line numbers, add hyperlinks, and highlight moved code blocks. Delta was developed by dandavison and is released under the MIT license.
The tool is written in Rust and can be configured through command-line arguments and environment variables. It offers preset themes and the ability to create custom color schemes. Delta integrates with various terminal environments and can be used with tools like tmux, GNU Screen, and Magit. The pager also supports features such as merge conflict visualization, git blame output highlighting, and navigation keybindings for large diffs.
