About Evidence
Evidence is an open source business intelligence platform for building interactive data visualizations using SQL and markdown. Developers use it to create dashboards, reports, and data products through code rather than drag-and-drop interfaces. The tool integrates with version control systems and supports analytics agents that can answer data questions in natural language. Evidence is developed by evidence-dev, written in TypeScript, and released under the MIT license.
The platform treats analytics infrastructure as code, allowing teams to define and manage their entire BI setup in a repository. It includes a cloud-based editor called Evidence Studio for development, a command-line interface for local preview and validation, and supports page-level access control and theme customization. The tool works with various data sources and can be used for internal analytics, embedded analytics within products, and customer-facing reporting systems.
