About fselect
fselect is a command-line tool that lets developers search for files using SQL-like queries instead of traditional find command syntax. It allows filtering by file attributes including size, date, name, content, image dimensions, audio metadata, and permissions. The tool supports aggregate functions like COUNT, SUM, and AVG to gather statistics about files, and can search inside ZIP archives. It also integrates with git to query per-file git status and respects ignore files like .gitignore. Additional features include searching by EXIF data in images and metadata in audio files, multiple output formats such as CSV and JSON, and the ability to use index-backed search on Windows and Linux for faster results.
fselect is developed by jhspetersson and is written in Rust. It is licensed under Apache 2.0 and available through multiple package managers and installation methods across macOS, Windows, Linux, and other platforms.
