About git-xargs
git-xargs is a command-line tool for automating updates across multiple GitHub repositories simultaneously. Developers use it to run scripts against many repositories, commit the resulting changes, and open pull requests from a single command. This allows teams to handle bulk tasks like adding files, updating configuration across repositories, or making search and replace changes at scale. The tool checks out each specified repository, executes the provided script, commits any modifications, and generates a report detailing what happened in each repository.
The tool is developed by gruntwork-io and written in Go. It is licensed under Apache 2.0, making it open source software that developers can freely use and modify. The tool integrates with GitHub's API to manage the workflow of updating multiple repositories, allowing teams to maintain consistency and apply changes efficiently across their codebase.
