About go-task
Task is a cross-platform task runner and build tool written in Go that uses YAML-based Taskfiles to define build and development scripts. It provides an alternative to Make, designed to work consistently across Linux, macOS, and Windows, both locally and in CI environments. Developers use it to describe commands, dependencies, and inputs in a readable format that teams can understand and maintain. Task can track source and generated files to skip unnecessary work, and supports including Taskfiles from URLs or Git repositories for shared workflows.
Task is developed by go-task and distributed under the MIT License as free and open source software. It can be installed through multiple package managers and provides documentation with separate entry points for learning, syntax reference, and machine-readable access.
