About Gunicorn

Gunicorn is a WSGI HTTP server for running Python web applications. It serves as a production-ready application server that handles requests from web clients and passes them to Python frameworks. The server uses a pre-fork worker model designed to handle traffic spikes and can run with various worker types including synchronous, asynchronous, threaded, and native asyncio workers. It works with WSGI and ASGI frameworks such as Django, Flask, FastAPI, Pyramid, Starlette, Falcon, and Bottle without requiring code changes.

Gunicorn is developed by benoitc and distributed under the MIT License. The tool is designed to be lightweight with minimal dependencies and simple configuration, making it suitable for deployment in containerized environments and on bare metal servers. It has been used in production by many organizations since its initial release.
