About hblock

hBlock is a shell script that enhances security and privacy by blocking domains associated with advertisements, tracking scripts and malware. It retrieves domain lists from multiple sources and generates blocklists in various formats, including hosts files and configurations compatible with DNS filtering tools like dnsmasq, RPZ zones and Unbound. The script is POSIX-compliant, making it portable across different Unix-like systems. Users can download pre-generated blocklists or create custom ones by configuring the tool according to their specific needs. The tool outputs blocklists in multiple formats to accommodate different system configurations and filtering mechanisms.

Developed by hectorm, hBlock is released under the MIT license, making it free and open source for both personal and commercial use. The project is maintained on GitHub, where users can access documentation and contribute to its development.
