About jQuery
jQuery is a JavaScript library that simplifies working with HTML documents and browsers. It provides an easy-to-use API for tasks like DOM traversal and manipulation, event handling, animation, and Ajax requests. The library is designed to work consistently across multiple browsers including Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, and Internet Explorer. jQuery was created by John Resig and is distributed under the MIT License.
The library has a small footprint of approximately 30 kilobytes when minified and gzipped. It supports CSS3 selectors for finding elements and manipulating style properties. jQuery can be included as an AMD module in projects. The project is now maintained by the OpenJS Foundation, with the latest major version receiving active support while earlier versions are available through commercial support options.
