About Kaku
Kaku is a terminal emulator for macOS designed to work efficiently with AI-assisted coding workflows. It provides tabs, panes, and window management with keyboard shortcuts, along with an integrated AI assistant that can suggest fixes for failed commands and generate commands from plain English descriptions. The application comes with sensible defaults including fonts, themes, shell integration, and a curated set of tools like Lazygit and Yazi, requiring minimal configuration out of the box.
Developed by tw93, Kaku is built in Rust and released under the MIT license. The tool is open source and does not require an account to use. It offers GPU-rendered text and graphics, session persistence across restarts, and optional Lua configuration for deeper customization. Setup involves installation via DMG or Homebrew, with AI features and additional tools configured as needed through the command line.
