About LocalSend
LocalSend is a free, open-source application for sharing files directly between devices connected to the same local network. It works across Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS, allowing users to transfer any file type without requiring internet access or user accounts. The tool uses end-to-end encryption to protect data, which remains on the local network during transfers. LocalSend is developed by localsend and released under the Apache Software License 2.0. The application is built using Dart, Flutter, and Rust.
The tool requires zero configuration to use - users simply install it on their devices, select files to share, and tap to send to nearby devices. File transfers occur at the maximum speed of the local WiFi network without bandwidth limits. Since LocalSend operates completely offline and does not contact external servers, no account creation, login, or internet connection is needed. All transfers are encrypted using HTTPS, with optional PIN verification available for additional security.
