About mitmproxy
mitmproxy is an interactive proxy that allows developers to intercept, inspect, modify and replay web traffic across multiple protocols including HTTP/1, HTTP/2, HTTP/3, WebSockets and other SSL/TLS-protected traffic. Developers use it for debugging, testing, privacy measurements and penetration testing. The tool can decode various message formats, intercept specific messages in real-time, modify them before reaching their destination, and replay them to clients or servers. It offers both command-line and graphical interfaces via mitmweb, which provides features similar to browser developer tools.
mitmproxy was developed by Aldo Cortesi and Maximilian Hils. The tool is free and open source, released under the MIT License. It is written in Python and runs cross-platform. Developers can also extend mitmproxy's functionality through a Python API to write custom addons and scripts, allowing full control over the proxy behavior and enabling automated modifications, traffic redirection and custom command implementation.
