About nodeenv

Nodeenv is a tool that creates isolated Node.js environments, similar to how virtualenv works for Python. Each environment maintains its own installation directories and does not share libraries with other environments. Developers use it to manage separate Node.js setups on the same system, and it can be integrated into existing Python virtual environments. The tool is written in Python and developed by ekalinin under the 3-clause BSD License.

Nodeenv supports installing specific Node.js versions, npm semver ranges, or the latest LTS release. It provides reproducibility features through a freeze command that saves installed packages to a file, which can be restored in new environments. Users can choose to install Node.js from prebuilt packages, from custom mirrors, or use a system-wide installation. Configuration defaults can be stored in a ~/.nodeenvrc file using INI format.
