About proxelar
Proxelar is a scriptable local traffic workbench written in Rust that intercepts and inspects HTTP, HTTPS, and WebSocket traffic between clients and services. Developers use it for API inspection, debugging, local service mocking, request and response modification, and testing workflows without altering the application under test. The tool can capture traffic in multiple modes including forward proxy, reverse proxy, WireGuard, SOCKS5, and DNS, and provides several interfaces: an interactive terminal UI, plain output, a web GUI, and a headless REST API. It supports hot-reloading Lua scripts and rules for traffic transformation, automatic HTTPS interception with certificate generation, and portable session management using HAR and curl formats.
Proxelar is developed by emanuele-em and released under the MIT license. The project is built as a Rust workspace with modular components including a core proxy engine usable as a standalone library, native HTTP codecs, and asynchronous I/O powered by Tokio. It uses rustls for TLS termination and mlua for Lua scripting support.
