About SciPy
SciPy is a Python library providing fundamental algorithms for scientific computing and numerical analysis. It offers tools for optimization, integration, interpolation, eigenvalue problems, algebraic equations, differential equations, and statistics. The library wraps highly-optimized implementations written in low-level languages like Fortran, C, and C++ to combine Python's flexibility with compiled code performance. SciPy extends NumPy and provides specialized data structures such as sparse matrices and k-dimensional trees for array computing.
Developed by scipy and distributed under BSD licenses, SciPy is open source software maintained publicly on GitHub by a community of contributors. The library runs on Microsoft Windows, Unix-like operating systems, and macOS. SciPy is written in C, C++, Cython, Fortran, and Python, making it accessible to programmers of varying experience levels while delivering the performance required for scientific applications.
