About Screenpipe

Screenpipe is a tool that continuously records computer activity including screen content and audio to create a searchable history of work. Developers use it to search past activities, generate summaries and follow-ups from meetings and daily work, and provide context to AI agents and language models. The tool stores raw history locally by default and offers a local API, REST interface, and model context protocol server for accessing captured data. It captures screen frames with optical character recognition, microphone and system audio transcription, and accessibility context from applications.

Screenpipe is developed by screenpipe and written in Rust. The tool is available to download for free and operates as local-first software, keeping captured data on the user's device rather than centralizing it. It supports use across different models and operating systems through its portable local database and open API design.
