About Socket.IO

Socket.IO is a framework for building applications that require bidirectional, low-latency communication between servers and clients. Developers use it to create real-time features where data flows in both directions with minimal delay. The framework is built on JavaScript and runs on Node.js, working across different platforms. It typically establishes connections using WebSocket for efficient communication, but automatically falls back to HTTP long-polling if WebSocket is not available. The client will attempt to reconnect automatically if the connection is interrupted.

Socket.IO is developed by socketio and is distributed under the MIT License. The framework supports scaling across multiple servers, allowing developers to send events to all connected clients easily. It comes with comprehensive documentation including guides, tutorials, and API references for both server and client implementations.
