About toot
Toot is a command-line and terminal user interface client for Mastodon, the open-source social network platform. It allows developers and users to interact with Mastodon directly from the terminal, enabling them to browse timelines, post messages, and manage their accounts without using a web browser. The tool is written in Python and provides both a lightweight CLI mode for scripting and a more interactive TUI mode for direct terminal usage.
Toot is developed by ihabunek and released under the GPL 3.0 license, making it free and open source software. The project is maintained as a community-driven tool for those who prefer terminal-based interfaces or need programmatic access to Mastodon functionality. Its lightweight design makes it suitable for remote systems and automation workflows where graphical interfaces are unavailable or impractical.
