About ttl

ttl is a traceroute tool built in Rust that provides real-time network diagnostics through a terminal interface. It displays per-hop statistics and performs ASN and geolocation lookups for each hop along a network route. The tool can detect ECMP paths and parse MPLS labels, offering capabilities beyond traditional traceroute utilities. ttl is developed by lance0 and released under the Apache 2.0 license.

The tool is designed as a modern alternative to mtr, combining fast performance with an interactive terminal user interface for visualizing network paths. It works with ICMP probes and measures latency at each hop, making it suitable for network troubleshooting and analysis tasks. As a command-line utility, it integrates into terminal workflows for developers and network administrators who need to diagnose routing issues and understand network topology.
