About Unity
Unity is a real-time engine for developing games and interactive 3D applications. Developers use it to build 2D and 3D games, create XR experiences, develop immersive applications, and power industrial systems. The engine supports deployment across multiple platforms including mobile, PC, console, and extended reality devices. Unity also provides tools for collaboration, live game operations, user acquisition, and monetization. The engine is developed by Unity Technologies and uses a proprietary license.
Unity is built on C# and C++ and runs on Android, Linux, Microsoft Windows, and macOS. The platform offers features for post-launch game operations, in-app purchase management, and player discovery tools. Beyond game development, Unity serves use cases in 3D collaboration, immersive training, robotics, and human-machine interfaces across industries including manufacturing, retail, and automotive.
