About Upscayl
Upscayl is an AI image upscaler that enlarges photographs and images while maintaining quality. Developers use it to enhance low-resolution or blurry photos by applying artificial intelligence to increase detail and clarity. The tool runs on Linux, macOS and Windows, processing images locally on a user's device. It supports upscaling up to 16x resolution and offers multiple AI models for different types of images. Users can batch process multiple images at once or apply upscaling twice for additional quality improvement.
Upscayl is developed by upscayl and released under the AGPL 3.0 license. The desktop application is free and open source, allowing developers to download and use it permanently without cost. The project is written in TypeScript and builds on established upscaling techniques. A cloud version is also available alongside the desktop offering.
