About Valkey
Valkey is an open source key-value database designed for caching, message queues, and real-time workloads. It can function as both a cache layer and a primary database, supporting various data types including strings, numbers, hashes, lists, sets, sorted sets, bitmaps, and hyperloglogs. The database can be deployed as a standalone instance or in a cluster configuration with replication and high availability options. Valkey offers extensibility through Lua scripting and module plugins that allow developers to create custom commands and data types.
Developed by valkey-io and backed by the Linux Foundation, Valkey is licensed under the BSD 3-Clause license and distributed as open source software. The project is written in C and includes comprehensive documentation, client libraries for various programming languages, and Docker images for easy deployment. Multiple stable versions are maintained concurrently, and the tool provides performance dashboards to help teams monitor throughput trends and identify potential regressions.
