About Vim
Vim is a highly configurable modal text editor designed for efficient text creation and modification. It is built as an improved version of vi, which is included standard on most Unix systems and macOS. The editor includes a persistent multi-level undo tree, an extensive plugin system supporting hundreds of programming languages and file formats, powerful search and replace capabilities, and integration with many external tools. Vim has a scripting language that enables plugin-like extensions for features including syntax highlighting, colorization, and IDE-like behavior.
Vim was developed by Bram Moolenaar and is available under the GNU General Public License and the Vim license. It is written in C and Vimscript and runs on Android, BSD, Linux, Microsoft Windows, and macOS. The editor is actively maintained and continuously updated with new features and improvements.
