About WordPress
WordPress is open source software for creating websites, blogs, and applications. Developers and site owners use it to build sites with flexible design tools, a block-based editor, and a library of plugins and themes for extending functionality. The WordPress Foundation, along with developers including Andrew Nacin, Dion Hulse, Helen Hou-Sandí, and Mark Jaquith, maintains the project. It is written in PHP and JavaScript and runs on Windows and Unix-like systems.
WordPress is distributed under the GNU General Public License. The platform provides real-time editing, responsive design customization, and integrated content management features. Users can add functionality like online stores, analytics, newsletters, and social media integration through plugins. The project is supported by an active community that organizes events and provides documentation, forums, and learning resources for developers and creators of all skill levels.
