About Xcode
Xcode is an integrated development environment created by Apple Inc. for building applications across Apple platforms, including macOS, iOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS. The tool provides comprehensive features for developing, testing, and distributing apps, encompassing code editing, debugging, performance profiling, and device simulation. Xcode includes predictive code completion powered by machine learning models trained for Swift and Apple frameworks, as well as support for coding agents and large language models to assist with code generation and documentation.
The IDE features Xcode Previews, allowing developers to visualize interface changes in real-time while working with SwiftUI, UIKit, and AppKit. Additional capabilities include a device hub for managing multiple Apple devices, localization enhancements, and advanced testing and performance tools. Xcode is distributed as freeware by Apple Inc.
